Cloverleaf CL4 Professional Pond FIlter

All systems are supplied complete with valves and waste kits, together with a heavy duty lid
Clover CL4 Professional Pond Filter Dimensions:
Size 1600 x 1600 x 1200mm high.
Suitable for Koi ponds up to 5,000 gallons (22,500 litres), or Goldfish ponds up to 10,000 gallons (45,000 litres). As standard this system is supplied without a lid, and without any filtration mediums – thus giving the pondkeeper full flexibility in choice. A "CL4 Optional Media Kit" is available at extra cost as shown on the diagram with 28 Brushes, Jap-Mat, Foam & Aquarock. General description as for “CL2” & “CL3” filters. Note:- Pipe inlet size 160mm (6") - Outlet 100mm (4").

The site installation of the CL4 model is unique to the range, in that pressures on the casing welds brought about by the weight of water (approx 1 ton per bay without media) requires that the unit needs to be placed on a firm level concrete base, and partially encased in concrete to provide lasting stability and a long life. This applies regardless of whether the unit is pump or gravity fed, and the attached diagram illustrates the basics of what needs to be achieved.

Cloverleaf CL2 ADTEC Professional Pond Filter with PSS
Few manufacturers in the world have put as much effort into designing a flexible and good value range of multi-bay filters suitable for the Koi pond as Cloverleaf, and how refreshing to not only know that they are British but to acknowledge they offer first class technical support to customers/end users. Key features of this well constructed compact "CL" range are the options of the filters being pump or gravity fed (meaning below ground), whilst being very simple to maintain.
The CL2 ADTEC system is based on the very popular CL1 proffesional range of filters and the specification for the filter is as per the CL2, the main difference with using the PSS system is that the filters will deal with pond water volumes up to 100% larger due to the installation of one of the PSS system.
The incorporation of vortex bays, and skilful use of mechanical and biological bays using quality mediums encompassing good water flows are further attributes that make the range a superb and sound investment. For very large ponds all filters can be happily installed as pairs - linked to separate pumps. All systems are supplied complete with valves and waste kits, together with a heavy duty lid
Cloverleaf CL2 ADTECProfessional Koi Pond Filter System Dimensions:
Size: 990 x 990 x 760
PSS (Particle Separation System) brings about a major re-think to all pond keepers/hobbyists who acknowledge the proven virtues of multi-bay filter systems, and the importance of water clarity. In brief Cloverleaf’s innovative but uncomplicated design for the PSS (Particle Separation System) can as a single tank/bay be used in a stand alone situation (providing mechanical & biological filtration), and will also make a superb filter if attached to a skimmer. Alternatively the PSS can be hooked into any existing pump fed multi-bay filter system where it can replace any vortex bay - with any existing vortex thus being converted into a bona-fide biological bay/chamber. In addition the PSS can be incorporated within several existing Cloverleaf multi bay models from the Genesis Mk2 or Professional CL range (pump feed only). In the future it is anticipated that the PSS will be standard on many Cloverleaf filters, PSS is the future.
The key design concept of the PSS is to remove/trap suspended particles/solids from the water which would typically flow straight through many vortex bays and thus pollute any biological media. This is especially the case in that small diameter vortex units are not the ultimate in efficiency. In brief then, the PSS can be classified as a highly refined vortex unit, which of course means that any existing filter (or bays) require far less maintenance - also meaning a greater biological bed is established.
Trapping of particles/solids is achieved via Cloverleaf’s uniquely designed and manufactured long life Particle Separation Media (PSM) which is retained in suspension at all times. When the PSM (media) becomes blocked it is time for it to be cleaned via the airstone ring, however any blockage which is visually indicated by water flowing up through the central overflow does not substantially reduce the flow rate through the rest of any filter system (where applicable) - so general flow rates/performance are never greatly restricted. Biological integrity of the PSM (media) is always fully maintained in that it is always ONLY ever cleaned via oxygen rich mature pond water.
Although Cloverleaf have experimented with numerous existing floating media available, various shortcomings led to the decision for the company to invest in costly tooling in order to manufacture the PSM media at its factory - with the media design being based on that used by a UK national water supply utility company. To summarise, the PSS is British at its best and offers a better pond environment and less pond maintenance at a price that can only be described as most reasonable. The Cloverleaf design concept is not based on having to rip out and cast aside any existing filtration system, as the option exists to retain an existing pump fed system if desired. Please note air pumps are not supplied as part of the PSS, but Cloverleaf’s C82 Air Pump is great for the job. In addition the PSS can be incorporated within several existing Cloverleaf multi bay models from the Genesis Mk2 or Professional CL range (pump feed only). It is anticipated that the PSS will be standard on many Cloverleaf filters, PSS is the future available Now!
Cleaning of the media is achieved via the following easy steps:
- (1) Close isolation valve on PSS bay
- (2) Switch off submersible pump
- (3) Activate air ring/air pump for several minutes
- (4) Turn off air pump
- (5) Immediately open PSS bay waste valve to discharge foul water
- (6) Wipe top perforated plate in bay with a few sheets of kitchen roll paper
- (7) Re-activate system
Do not clean the PSS unnecessarily. Only do so when the overflow is seen to be operational. If PSS1 or PSS2 is connected into an existing multi bay filter system and the media to that system requires cleaning then also close the isolating valve on the PSS first in order to prevent foul water from running back to the pump.
