This is achieved via the units high intensity output lamps coupled with the highly reflective stainless steel chamber which jointly produces 90,000 micro-watts within the disinfection chamber.
How They Work:
Pond water containing these unwanted contaminates enters the EP unit's wet chamber and is then exposed to the light rays generated by the UV bulb. Th EP unit has been designed to allow for some turbity in the water, as turbity will reduce the UV light wave transmission capability. Therefore all EP units are sized with sufficient exposure time to allow for possible turbidity in the water and the reduction in the killing power of the UV bulb. When the incoming water is exposed for this duration, the water exiting the unit is near drinking water biological quality.
All models in the series feature 100% electronic balasts housed inside an easily removable plastic electrical enclosure. Inside the enclosure you will find a pressure switch that automatically controls the on/off of the system whenever water stops flowing through the chamber. This exclusive feature protects the UV lamp from overheating and solarizing (discolouration) of the quartz tube and lampwhen water is not flowing to cool the tube and lamp. Once the electrical enclosure top is removed the re-lamping of the unit is a simple two minute job.

Within the Elektra®Pro UV units there is a high intensity electically operated Ultraviolet (UV) bulb located inside the units wet chamber. This bulb, when lit, gives off Ultraviolet light wave imissions. The bulbs operating emission range is within the Ultraviolet lighwave specturm at 253.7 nm of wavelength. The wavelength is such that when bacteria, protozoa, viruses, algae spores, or other single celled waterborne microorganisms in the incoming water flow aree exposed to the light waves of the UV bulb for one second or more exposure time, the DNA of the microorganism is altered or disrupted, this controls and eradicates these unwanted contaminates and renders them harmless.
A stainless steel mounting base and the unionized inlet/outlet piping makes physical installation easy to accomplish using common tools. Suitable for indoor and outdoor installation, electrical connection is achieved via the supplied flexible power cord and plug. Available in four different model sizes for circulation systems with flow rates ranging from 31 gpm (117 lpm) to 100 gpm (379 lpm).  |
